Alicante is located on the eastern Spanish coast and is part of the Costa Blanca, being situated on the coast 50 miles (82 KM) north of Murcia and 25 miles (40km) south of Benidorm. The Alicante region is well known for a very mild climate in winter - around 16 degrees, rising to more than twice that in the summer time. The city of Alicante has a population of around 300,000 and a history reaching back to prehistoric times, indeed, there are prehistoric caves to be found near to the town of Buscot around 24 km away. Today though the city is best known as an excellent tourist centre thanks to the miles of superb sandy beaches and surroundings. With it's wealth of public parks and gardens it is an excellent place to find a villa for sale.
