A fair assumption is that travel insurance is divided into two main headings, that of multi trip OR single trip, pop over the water for a week's holiday insurance. In this instance then, personal travel insurance is line many other products in that the more you buy the less each unit costs. Therefore annual personal travel insurance is by far cheaper than cover for that single trip. Now we all look for bargains and when we have paid out all that money for a family holiday we don't have much left for "extras" after spending money is taken into account, so we tend to look for the cheap end of the insurance market for personal travel purposes. The question is: Is cheap personal travel insurance better than the insurance you would get if you paid more money? The answer has to be qualified as it depends where you buy it from. Personally I would never, ever pay a travel agent good money for personal travel travel insurance because they make lots of money out of the premiums and that money is better in my pocket than theirs. Again, insurance is a product like anything else and it should be treated as such, therefore, you are better off buying it where the competition is at it's most fierce, and that is online.
