 Camping Les Amiaux, Le Clarys Plage and Les Genets, St Jean de Monts, Vendee: Saint Jean de Monts is all about carefree holidays in the sun in a clean and safe environment : pathways and bicycle paths between the sea, the sand dunes, the forest and the marshes, or even jaunts on the islands and visits around Nantes and La Rochelle, children and families are welcome, events and activities from Easter to Toussaints, golf, thalassatherapy, casino, yachting and immaculate beaches for swimming. The town has a large market twice weekly and bustles with activity on those days, starting early and finishing around noon, but even then there are parking spaces to be found, especially at the top of the town near to the main beach. If you are camping or staying in a mobile home (classed as the same thing) in St Jean-de-Monts then you really need a car to make the best of your holidays, either bring it with you on the ferry and drive down from the port or fly to Nantes Atlantique airport and hire a car for your holiday there.
We have stayed in St Jean de Monts many times, twice at Les Amiaux, and one of those times being with Matthews France in 2007 which is when we met and fell in love with the little red squirrel above who regularly came to us for breakfast

Camping St Jean de Monts: Les Amiaux with Matthews Holidays - Camping les Amiaux is a friendly, family run campsite, which is situated north of the town of St Jean-de-Monts. A holiday spent on this campsite will always be packed with lots to do for all the family - the main activity being centred around the excellent outdoor swimming pools and waterslides, and the magnificent new indoor swimming pool complex, along with fountains and it's own children's paddling pool, etc.
During the evening the bar and restaurant form the centre of activity. There is a disco and entertainment organised here at least once a week from the beginning of July through to end of August and the restaurant here provides excellent value meals for families.
Just behind the long sandy beach lie the sand dunes and pine woods which form a cooler, shady area whenever you feel the need to retreat from the summer sun.
The indoor swimming pool and adjacent waterslides will be open from 16th May through to 9th September. The additional outdoor pool complex near reception will be open from 1st July to 31st August. |
Camping St Jean de Monts: Les Genets with Matthews Holidays - Camping Les Genets is a well run, modern site with sandy emplacements, mostly set in light shade.
The excellent swimming pool complex is the focal point of the campsite. There is a childrens pool, main pool, waterslide and an indoor swimming pool. The delightful outdoor pool complex with a
Wild West theme, includes a waterslide and a river cascade in addition to the outdoor pool. In July and August the site has an animateur to organise various activities, which are run during the day and evening.
A great site for relaxing, knowing that there are plenty of activities for the children. The shop, bar and cooked meal service are open from 16th May until 9th September (bar closes 16th September). Gas barbecues only are permitted on this site.
Long stretches of glorious, sandy beach are within walking distance of the site. The sea front bars and cafes along the promenade of St Jean de Monts are only a short drive away. |

Camping St Jean de Monts: Le Clarys Plage with Matthews Holidays - The main centrepiece of the campsite at Clarys Plage is the fabulous outdoor ‘tropical’ style swimming pool along with a variety of waterslides, water fountains, and featuring a walk-in shallow section for younger children, as well as an indoor swimming pool.
There is direct pedestrian access from the site to a small shopping centre, which is conveniently located right next to the campsite, with a range of boutiques, a supermarket and a restaurant too. The majority of the shops open from late May to early September, with the supermarket opening from mid May to early September.
The campsite bar and cooked meals service open from 16th May to 9th September. The bar provides a lively meeting place in the evenings and also where the entertainment takes place during July and August. Only gas barbeques are permitted on this site.
Located less than two miles south of St Jean de Monts with its excellent shops, market and restaurants you could not ask for a better holiday location. |
