Apple crumble is so very easy to make, it is a quick and nutritious dessert for you and your family. Here is the recipe I use at home and then there are others below to add variation to your cooking.  If you like this page, please link to it or let your friends know by sharing on FaceBook.

Cooking time 40 minutes

Ingredients you will need for 4 servings.

2 1 Ib. cooking Apples (you can use old eating apples for a variation or alter the mix quantity to suit your crumble to fruit ratio!)
3 oz. butter or margarine
About 4 tablespoons water
6 oz. plain flour
3 oz. castor sugar
4 oz. brown sugar

1. Peel, core and slice the Apples into a pan then add the water, brown sugar .
2. Cover and simmer gently until the Apples are soft - add sugar to taste if it is too sharp.
3. When cooked, turn into a greased pie dish, having firstly drained off excess juice into a cup or gravy boat - you can sprinkle this on when serving if people want extra juice.
4. Rub the butter or margarine into the flour (a large batch is quicker in a food mixer), add the sugar and mix well. The mix should resemble breadcrumbs. As a note - crumble mix can be frozen in freezer bags and used later if you make a large batch.
5. Sprinkle this mixture over the apple and press down lightly.
6. Cook on a moderate oven (350?F.-Gas Mark 4), until golden brown.
7. When cooked, sprinkle with castor sugar and serve with cream or custard. Yum. :-)

Vegbox Recipes  - Apple and Blackberry crumble is a definitive autumn dessert. It's delicious, simple and quick to make. In this version, you save even more time by not peeling the apples or pre-cooking the fruit

Make the crumble topping:
If you have a food processor, put the flour and butter into the bowl and use the chopping blade to make the "breadcrumbs" - takes about 30 seconds, OR

If you're doing it by hand, chop the butter into small cubes and add to the flour. Using your finger tips, rub the butter and flour until they resemble bread crumbs. Mix in the sugar. Wash the apples, cut them in half and remove the core. Then slice them and arrange them in the base of the crumble dish. Wash the blackberries thoroughly. Drain them well and then add to the crumble dish, on top of the apples. Sprinkle the sugar over the blackberries. There is no need to mix. Top with the crumble mixture, making sure the edges are sealed, so juice doesn't creep up during cooking and burn.
Cook at 180 deg C for about 45 minutes, until the crumble is lightly browned.
