6th wedding anniversary - Iron

Once again we open our page by telling you what the legend says about the sixth wedding anniversary, and this one has two names for some reason; Iron and Sugar - I have always wondered about the mental state of the people who have made up the names for these things way, way back in the past - could they have been at the G&T a little earlier than usual perhaps?

That's as may be, but there are flowers associated with this special day too which are Calla lilies. This means zilch to me so I have looked up said flowers in order to be able to tell you more about them. Calla lilies are apparently Calla lilies are unique and elegant flowering plants that make a spectacular addition to the home or garden.

They are also very popular choices for bridal bouquets and cut flower arrangements. White calla lilies are quite common, but these plants are also available in an array of beautiful colours including various shades of green, pink, purple, yellow, and orange. So now you know all there is to know about Calla lilies.

There is a list of Gemstones associated with wedding anniversaries - there is always a list isn't there?  The gems, for there are two of for the sixth anniversary, are Amethyst and Garnet.

Now then chaps, this could be your chance to get away, not Scot free exactly, but rather tastefully on the cheap this year. All you have to do is to remember the date as that is especially important, and then pop to the iron mongers and buy her a shovel or something equally useful to use around the house. Or, nip down to the local sweetie shop and purchase a pound of sugar coated almonds which you can share over a bottle of wine later in the day.
